Aperture Studios Miami

Aperture Studios Miami is a daylight photo studio and professional equipment rental house on NE 59th Street in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood, a few minutes from Wynwood, Brickell and Miami Beach. Run together with Aperture Professional Supply, it describes itself as a fixture of South Florida’s professional photographic rental industry for more than 28 years. The building has two drive-in studios with full-cove cyclorama walls and a shared common area, and Aperture says it handles shoots from catalog and art to kids and celebrities.

Studios

• Studio A: a 2,204-square-foot daylight room (58 by 38 feet) with 16-foot ceilings, a 28-by-32-foot full-cove cyc and a 24-by-10-foot wall of north-facing windows that lights the cyc. It has a roll-up garage door for drive-in access, a kitchenette, a washer and dryer, a sound system, a sitting area and a 12-by-15-foot makeup and changing room with rolling racks and a steamer.
• Studio B: a 2,150-square-foot room (50 by 43 feet) with 16-foot ceilings, a 37-by-26-foot full-cove cyc, a 16-foot white flat wall for castings or a second set, and a full working kitchen for food shoots. It is also drive-in accessible and has its own makeup and changing room.

Both studios are booked by the half day or full day for photo and video shoots.

Equipment rental

According to Aperture, it keeps one of the largest camera, lighting and grip rental inventories in the Southeast, including Canon, Nikon, Sony and Hasselblad cameras and lenses, Profoto, Arri and Kino Flo lighting, and grip from 20-by-20 overheads to beach carts and Magliners. The shop also sells expendables such as seamless background paper, foam core, gaffer tape and gels, and is a dealer for Profoto, Elinchrom, Manfrotto and Tenba. On-site staff help with equipment and studio questions.

Parking and hours

A secure back lot has room for up to four motor homes, and Studio B includes secured parking for motor homes or talent. The rental counter is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; studio bookings and quotes go through the contact page or by phone.
