Go Studios

Go Studios rents its Penthouse + Rooftop, a daylight photo studio on a private top floor at 318 West 39th Street in Midtown Manhattan. Since opening in 2010, the studio has served photo and motion shoots from a 4,200-square-foot floor with a 25-by-45-foot skylight, 15- to 21-foot ceilings in the shooting area and a 3,200-square-foot rooftop that wraps around the studio and comes with every booking.

Penthouse studio

• Shooting area: a 24-by-25-foot cyc, 15- to 21-foot ceilings and 200-amp three-phase power with two distro boxes.
• Light control: a pulley system flies 20-by-20-foot silks under the skylight without stands, and motorized shades take the room from daylight to full blackout in about 60 seconds.
• Rooftop: 3,200 square feet of outdoor space reached through three doors from the studio; freight loads in at street level and comes straight up to the roof with no steps.
• Support spaces: a private hair, makeup and wardrobe room with a changing room, an extra north-side area for styling or props, a lounge that works as a green room, a private bathroom with a shower and a second bathroom.

Included with a booking

Two hair and makeup stations, wardrobe racks, steamers, full-length mirrors, folding tables and pushpin boards, an iMac with internet, a Sonos sound system, high-speed Wi-Fi and a full kitchen with a stove and oven, two refrigerator-freezers, a dishwasher, microwave, water cooler and ice maker.

Equipment rental

Go Studios keeps an in-house inventory of photo, motion and production equipment: Profoto strobes and modifiers, Aputure, Arri HMI, LED and Arri tungsten continuous lights, grip and electric, camera support including a Foba stand and dollies, Canon, Nikon and medium-format cameras, and expendables. Studio and equipment bookings are handled by phone or email.
