The Spot Studio

The Spot Studio is a natural-light photo studio for rent in Mesa Plaza on Mesa Drive in Northwest Austin. It is set up for photographers, videographers and content creators shooting branded content, portraits and product campaigns, and was recently redesigned with an editorial look, curated furniture and props. The studio is self-service and rents by the hour, up to a full day.

Light and space

• Daylight: large west-facing openings bring directional light in from one side, brighter and more even at midday and warmer in the late afternoon. The studio says this suits editorial portraits, lifestyle imagery and brand content.
• Room for lighting: 15-foot ceilings and wall space for strobes, continuous lights, modifiers and backdrops when renters need consistent light after daylight hours.
• Sets: shooting bays, a textured wall, seamless paper backdrops and a remote-controlled overhead light.

Equipment and props

• Rolling C-stands, a reflector stand, V-flat, apple boxes, posing boxes, sandbags, ladders and phone tripods.
• Couches, chairs, stools, a full-size bed, a desk, a clothing rack and a rolling mirror. Props and furniture are included with each rental, subject to availability.
• Holiday sets are installed from late September through late December.

Amenities and booking

Every booking includes Wi-Fi, climate control, a private restroom, a changing area, a steamer and a Bluetooth speaker, with parking nearby. A ramp can be set in place for wheelchair access and loading. Sessions are booked online; the studio does not take event bookings. To find it, enter Mesa Plaza, follow the drive between the buildings toward the back of the plaza and look for door 8024.
