Alight Collaborative

Alight Collaborative, also called Alight Collab, is a private natural-light photo studio and creative space on West Pecan Street in Pflugerville, just over the North Austin line near I-35. The woman-owned studio was started by the photographer behind Alicia Leigh Photography, in business since 2012, and the owners hold the property and shoot in their own studio next door. Each booking gets the whole 1,400-square-foot space, with no overlapping rentals.

The studio

• Studio floor: about 1,000 square feet with white walls, finished concrete floors, floor-to-ceiling northeast-facing windows and a moveable rolling wall.
• Loft mezzanine: about 400 square feet upstairs with a styled kitchen (blue cabinetry, working sink, rolling island), hair and makeup stations and a green room. The loft is darker, so the studio suggests bringing flash or constant light there.
• Light: the left wall gets soft, diffused light all day. Direct morning light comes in from April to June, and in fall and winter the best light is usually between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Included with a rental

• Styled furniture, props and plants that change through the year, with seamless paper backdrops and a daylight LED light available as add-ons.
• Full-length mirrors, a steamer, rolling wardrobe rack, rolling cart, step ladder, sandbags and pull-down extension cords.
• Fridge and freezer, coffee station, Wi-Fi, speaker system, a TV on a rolling stand, a private restroom and free parking at the front door.

Booking and events

Hourly and all-day rentals are booked online. Studio rentals allow up to 10 people, and approved events up to 25. The space also hosts workshops, meetings, coworking days and community meetups, and holiday styled sets run each fall. In-person tours are no longer offered, but the site has a virtual video tour. Pets are allowed case by case with advance approval.
