FD Photo Studio

FD Photo Studio rents hourly photo and video studios in Los Angeles and New York, and its Main Studios location is on the fifth floor of 530 East 8th Street in Downtown Los Angeles. The company lists more than 68 rental studios and 95,000 square feet of photo space across its locations and says it has served more than 58,000 photographers. Studios are booked online by the hour with a one-hour minimum, and they are self-check-in, with no staff at the front desk during a booking.

Main Studios

• Studio A Classic: 740 square feet of daylight, with big windows that catch the sunrise.
• Studio B Blackout: 900 square feet with black walls and a single window that can be fully covered for controlled lighting.
• Studio C Cyc Wall: the largest studio, with a 19-foot white cyc, RGB overhead lights, a grass backdrop wall and floor, and big windows for daylight shoots.
• Studio D Bookshelf: 900 square feet of soft daylight with custom crate shelving and a Venetian grey textured wall.
• Studio E Soft Light: 900 square feet with soft north light.
• Studio F DT View: 450 square feet with big windows facing the downtown skyline and a two-zone wood and white floor.

Included equipment

Each booking includes three strobes with wireless triggers, paper backdrops, a makeup station, an AUX sound system, Wi-Fi and air conditioning, and more equipment is available. The building’s freight elevator runs weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and needs 24 hours’ notice; the passenger elevator is available at all times.
