Pixel Studios

Pixel Studios rents two cyc wall studios and a podcast space by the hour at 1040 Gardner Road in the West Ashley area of Charleston, South Carolina, in a standalone building about 15 minutes from downtown and the airport. The family-run business was established in 2012 and was bought by Shelly Media in August 2023. According to Pixel, the studio regularly hosts brand photoshoots, music videos, commercials, and HGTV and Bravo TV series.

Studios

• Studio A: a 25-by-20-foot white cyclorama wall under very high ceilings, with furniture and props. Pixel notes this uninsulated, metal-roofed room isn’t built for recording sound.
• Studio B: a 25-by-28-foot two-cove white cyc, 14-foot ceilings, a pre-lit green screen and a sound-resistant room for video and photo.
• Pod Space: a ready-to-record podcast set for two.

Included in rentals

• Pre-rigged RGB space lights controlled by app, Einstein and AlienBee strobes, soft boxes and modifiers.
• C-stands, combo stands, sandbags and apple boxes, plus stools, chairs and props.
• A hair and makeup area, wardrobe rack, kitchenette and restroom, with water, coffee and tea.
• Rollgate access, 10 feet high by 11.5 feet wide, and a small parking lot in front of the studio.

Services and memberships

In-house production, photography and podcast services are available, along with gear rentals. Memberships give regular renters monthly studio hours. Pixel also sets up a seasonal holiday set in Studio A.

Hours and booking

The studio works by appointment from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and is closed Mondays. Bookings start at one hour and are made by phone, text or email.
