Record ATX

Record ATX is a podcast and content studio on North Lamar Boulevard in North Central Austin, in the Lamar Business Park behind Half Price Books. Established in 2018 and formerly known as Permanent RCRD Studios, it rents sound-treated, customizable studio rooms for video and audio podcasts, social media content, online courses and audiobooks, with a Record ATX engineer on every session. According to Record ATX, Hala Taha records Yap Media content in its Studio 2 and Becky Bullard records the Texan Optimist podcast in Studio 3.

Studios and sets

• Five studio rooms: lounge or table setups with movable furniture and decor, fully customizable RGB background lights and an optional large monitor for a logo or visuals.
• Cameras and microphones: three HD Sony mirrorless cameras on video sessions, with Sony and Panasonic Lumix 4K mirrorless cameras, Shure SM7B and MV7 microphones, lavaliers, Rodecaster Pro 2 mixers, an Elgato teleprompter and Aputure Amaran lights on the gear list.
• Rooms are typically set up for up to four people on camera and mic.

Recording and services

• Multitrack recording with a backup recorder; every video session delivers a switched-camera edit, a leveled audio file and raw isolated camera and mic files.
• Remote guests via Riverside.fm, StreamYard or Zoom, optional livestreaming, and custom graphics and intro or outro clips.
• Editing, short vertical clips, show notes, podcast launch support, audiobook production, on-location recording and studio memberships.
• The rooms can also be booked as backdrops for photo shoots with the client’s own photographer.

Booking and amenities

The studio is appointment-only and books online. Clients can park in any open space in the business park lot, and the lobby has free Wi-Fi and a fridge stocked with water and other drinks; guests who are not on mic can monitor sessions from the lobby.
