Hollywood studio lot with 11 sound stages, audience-rated stages and standing sets
Sunset Las Palmas Studios is a 15-acre studio lot on North Las Palmas Avenue in Hollywood with 11 sound stages, production offices and support space; all but one of its stages are audience-rated with control rooms. It is run by Sunset Studios, the studio business of Hudson Pacific Properties, which bought the lot, then called Hollywood Center Studios, in 2017. According to Sunset Studios, its greenhouse-like early stages lit classic film and TV shoots, and Stage 2 was home to I Love Lucy, the first primetime comedy produced before a live studio audience on the West Coast.

History
Sunset Studios traces the lot to John Jasper’s Hollywood Studios, Inc., whose early tenants included Harold Lloyd, Howard Hughes, Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. As Metropolitan Studios it built one of the industry’s first sound stages in 1928, and the lot later hosted Mae West films, the Hopalong Cassidy series, Francis Ford Coppola’s Zoetrope Studios, Jeopardy!, Star Search and Pee-wee’s Playhouse. The four-story Harlow office building opened among the stages in 2020.
