West Hollywood recording studios with SSL rooms, where Michael Jackson cut Thriller
Westlake Recording Studios is a recording studio complex with two locations: Studios C, D and E, The Barn and two production suites on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, and Studios A and B on Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles. The studio was founded as Westlake Audio in the early 1970s, and according to Westlake its acoustically standardized rooms were widely copied by other studios by the end of that decade. Westlake says Michael Jackson recorded Thriller in Studio A, and its credits run from Stevie Wonder and Van Halen to Frank Ocean, SZA, Tyler, The Creator and Beyoncé, with 2026 releases by Kehlani and Madison Beer.
