Studio Twenty-One 6

Studio Twenty-One 6 is a 1,600-square-foot loft studio in the Phoenix Lofts at 1710 2nd Avenue North in downtown Birmingham, Alabama, rented by the hour for photo shoots, video, podcasts, interviews, meetings and small events. It is owned by Birmingham photographer Danny Austin, but it rents independently, and renters can bring their own photographer or crew.

The space

• Room: over 1,600 square feet with 14-foot ceilings, brick walls and big south-facing windows.
• Sets: 12 creative sets, more than 10 paper backdrops, and furniture and props.
• Extras: a makeup and dressing area, Wi-Fi and a 65-inch monitor for reviewing shots.

Lighting and gear

• Eight strobes and four LED lights, plus modifiers, V-flats and reflectors, are included with every rental. Strobe users should bring a compatible trigger.
• Available audio equipment is included for interviews and podcasts, and many renters bring their own microphones.
• Cameras and lenses aren’t available to rent.

Support and memberships

Renters can add lighting and creative support or a posing assistant. Monthly memberships run from 3 to 12 hours.

Booking

Studio time has a one-hour minimum and is available by appointment. Event rentals are also offered.
